How to Take Action in the Classroom
There are so many ways that students can get involved in helping others. An interesting piece of information that was shared at the World View Conference is that it is easier for younger (elementary) students to help those outside of their immediate circle. It is easier for them to see differences and a call for change globally before they see how they can help within their own community. Helping others around the world helps students feel empowered and they are then able to look more closely at themselves and their own community. Service is such an important part of being a good citizen, but sometimes it is hard to know where to start. Here are some service projects that you can do in your own classroom. Many of these organizations come with free resources, lesson plans, etc. Please check them out!
