Diverse BooksTeachers are consistently told to incorporate teaching of culture and diversity through the texts that they read on a daily basis. Many of us try to do this as often as we can, but it seems to be quite difficult. Why is this?
Because...where are the diverse books? Unfortunately, these diverse and multicultural books are hard to find! They aren't the ones promoted at your local bookstore or even online. It's as if you need to know the titles and then go search for the book, but how can you do that without knowing the book titles?! Listed below are a number of websites and places where you can find multicultural literature. Please check out the resources below to help you update your classroom libraries! Also, please feel free to check out the website/campaign: We Need Diverse Books to help diverse books be more easily accessible. |
